Limits of broadband fiber optic parametric devices due to stimulated Brillouin scattering

چکیده

We experimentally find a practical stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) threshold for broadband high-performance fiber optical parametric devices relying on dispersion-stable GeO2-doped silica highly nonlinear fibers. demonstrate that SBS limits the phase shift in such fibers to ~0.3 rad per pump unless is mitigated some way. consequently derive corresponding signal gain and conversion efficiency required mitigation factor range of optic devices’ applications. Finally, we examine level using air gaps tapers implementation polarization-insensitive employing bidirectional loops. observe an gap or taper are not very efficient as they provided increase up 0.7 dB attributed primarily their excess loss.
